The Biggest Competition on the Planet is just getting Started!

Just think about it, Steemit is becoming the biggest competition on the planet. Anybody can participate. It only requires three things to be able to compete, a phone or computer, internet access and a brain. That’s it. That’s all the tools required to succeed on Steemit. Of course luck, talent and creativity are a large part of it too, but they are not requirements. Any subject matter is up for grabs if you can make it interesting enough. We have had travel logs, life stories, make-up tips and even software update blogs become successful on Steemit. Some people want to equate it to hitting the lottery. In a way it is but it does require more work than buying a ticket and sitting on the couch. You have to actually create something. You have to make something interesting, something that people will appreciate.

It can be daunting trying to come up with something people will like. If you are trying to then you are probably doing it wrong. The best thing to do is talk about the things that interest you. As Steemit becomes larger individual topics will have a world of their own. The size of payouts you see for the overall site can will become the size for individual topics. You can be the person who helps shape what those topics will be. As Steemit expands and more doorways become available to participate in this competition it will become increasingly harder for people to rise to the overall top but you can become the winner in the world you help create.

Honestly, I don't want to see Steemit go down the route of being purely about making money. If you look at somewhere like Warrior Forum, everyone is trying to sell something or scam someone, and it's a very sketchy ecosystem with very little trust and even less sense of community.
I'm hoping that over time the devs realise the importance of more passive users; people who want to learn new things, be entertained, make new friends, etc.

They only way to measure is with votes and votes in this system have monetary value. You could go by the most votes but I think people will still use the dollar as the way to measure success.

Well, we will see if quality content will make it or just popular entertaining content or copied stuff. And at the moment Steemit is still very nerdy and not much mainstream.

STEEMIT created a new genre in the social networking realm, I'm anxious to see it's implementation a year from now!

Hah! I love this perspective. The amount of game theory and social analysis that is going to go into studying the blockchain is mind-blowing. Thanks for sharing.
