5000 STEEM should I power up or bitcoin out?
I have been debating with myself what to do for the last few days, I must say I am happy with the turn around steem has performed I bought in 5800 odd with 1 btc at 0.0001709, I was upset at the performance of the steem intially because of the rocketing in value of BTC next thing you know steem is gaining traction but I hear good news about bitcoin set to hit $5000 or even more. The decision to purchase steem again later when I have a more valuable bitcoin might be worthwhile but then again is steem going to hit $100.
The world is a beautiful place when you know what your doing.

Well, I'm in Steem for the long run, if I was in your position I would hold a large percentage in Steem and convert it to SteemPower, and convert a smaller portion to BTC. Reasons I would hold the SteemPower this makes your voting power more in Steem, and thus keep you active here making more Steem, but that is something we need more of active users. So really it is a hard choice, either way I would say stay active here and you will be making it worth leaving as SteemPower
What benefit would i gain from having steam power?
SteemPower adds weight to your votes, the higher your SteemPower the more it affects your upvotes. Those who have lots of SteemPower will add $0.01 or more per vote. I don't have enough SteemPower yet so my votes don't change the numbers enough to be seen all the time.
