Everyday I am shitposting [Opinion]
Aren't we all just shitposting shit posts?
My thoughts on what is viable to post on Steem (not steemit) are ever changing, pieces of information slowly starting to form a complete picture; personal opinion. In our @BuddyUp Drop in the Ocean show we were joined by some heavy hitters like Shadow , Swolesome and Inginuity who have all been eating, sleeping and shitting Steem so when they give their thoughts on Steem a person might want to listen and learn a bit.
I have never been a good learner, I am slow, get distracted by fixating on a specific part and analyzing it to death just to realise that the things I am trying to kill is an apple pip and not a fly.
Just saw a car stop outside, old man combing his hair, so obviously, I am like fucksakes he is going to come in and ask for identity photos. Instead, he slowly made his way to the business next door, took out a business card and checked in the glass if he looked ok then proceeded up the stairs. I hope he gets the sale, shame still hustling in this world and most likely not by choice.
So for a change during the show I actually listened instead of blabber on, something I should try to do more of in general, lol, sure people would have preferred I listen the whole time. Anyway, before I lose the plot again.
This is a "social" platform but with money. With that being said, if someone is posting pictures of their dinner and making bank only through authentic votes then that is a given. We all know the world is polluted with convoluted people who will find that someone with no substance yet gets $1000 a time for sharing a few words about their bowel movement really really needs that one more 0.002 cent vote, and a follow, and a resteem.
Shitposting is a problem because of the abusers, we also only call it shitposting on the Steemit interface, on Dmania it is a meme, on dlink it is a link, steepshot it is a photo, zappl it is a zapp (tweet) and ulog it is you (facebook - you know that person that always posts a thesis of his day? Well it seems he did have a clue) .
Steemit is everyone's favourite little interface, their first love, the crazy bitch they can't be left alone with and can't be with. Steemit never had an interface resembling any other site, maybe by design. Busy.org resembles facebook on purpose cognitively this indicates what kind of posting can be done. All the others seem so familiar, and have a purpose except Steemit.
Which I guess is fine, people will figure out what the purpose is from just browsing around a bit. Within in a week, you have a bot king, bukkake gang and a granny yelling at the kids to come inside. The streets are not safe. That is if you think in terms of Steemit.
Yes there are people abusing the reward pool, but there are far more people to stupid to think for themselves and not contribute to those peoples posts. There are those higher up in the pecking order who are clearly active users but do not want to assume the role that I feel station demands of them. There are many that are doing something. But I am not here to spew governance. I am shit posting to try and consolidate my thoughts on what Steem is.
Swolesome said it well when he said, ecosystem, that kind of worked for me. So if people want to post dick pics so be it, if the natural law of retardation makes them bank because it is a famous dick then so be it,in time this will be posted on Jude (because Dnude sounds stupid) and they as an interface will provide everyone the chance to post and vote on their favourite dick pics. They can feel good knowing they are posting something that is "allowed" because the interface the defined it, but Steem is not defined, all it says is content creators, nowhere on the Steem home page does it state original content.
The moment you press post you are a content creator, just like people with phones are all photographers. :)
Anyway I lost the plot again...
Oh yes, we are at ground level, the websites are being built each with their own take on content they wish to allow on the blockchain, most will take the route of not even showing you other content that does not fit the mould. Only Steemit will be left, unfiltered and bare, showing all the ugliness that is on offer - what has this got to do with shit posting?
Well post what ever the fuck you want, because you can, it is your blog, your content (we hope - but seriously it does not matter) , use the interfaces available in the Steem Ecosystem to get a better sense of where we are heading if nothing else. So if you wan't to post a question or picture of a turd then go ahead it is your perogative.
Just don't fucking boost it to 50% of the reward pool because mommy never gave you any love and you feel you are owed something you white/black/yellow I do not care piece of shit gay/straight/? donkey fucker.
As Mr. Bluefin says
Be good. Do Good.
Don't Be An Ass!
Heavy! Couldn't agree more....I actually feel even many of my posts are shitposts, despite they don't really match your description of shitpost...but the added value of them is not really big. And I actually feel my posts are higher than average quality here on Steemit. It's full uf shit in here, that's true...that's why I think twice before following someone and keep my feed nice and readworthy. Resteemed this one tho! Good job saying it out loud
Thank you for the resteem :) Yes I am also starting to sort my feed a bit, although I tend to find most of my posts in discord and miss a few people who are only in my feed :(
Your posts are of a higher quality, hence the curie :) Congrats BTW. I kept the definition of a shit post quite basic, but do feel that I have also had a personal biased to what should be posted. As we grow on the platform and in our communities (which are a big help) we see many examples of content that maybe we don't even care for ourselves but considering this is " your blog" why can't you post what you wish to share and maybe make a few cents for it, whether this is a 1000 word article or a meme you saw on facebook it is at the time of posting exactly the same in value.
The problem I currently think comes in when people do not post merely with the wish to share a personal experience (which in itself is unique) or even if they post regurgitated content or the more steem centric posts (kinda like mine) - they proceed to milk every single post for as much worth as they can muster.
In the end to not ramble on in circles :) which I do.
Post what you wish, if you feel it needs a boost go ahead , I think it boils down to measuring the worth. You would not promote a post about your dinner on facebook would you? Yeah the economics are different and open for abuse, just does not mean we should abuse it.
Had to google what regurgitated means haha :D Thx! That curied post was good, but my other ones are sometimes shit...anyway, you're right that that personal content is unique, I didnt think about it that way....but then the question is, why should actually people care reading it...if the only value is that it's unique...but that's not the problem of Steemit but all social media...so yeah, good point, I'mma feel better now when posting shitty posts about personal life haha :D
couldn't agree more! I also feel like I post shit sometimes...that is when I post something about ME I feel it's shit ahah. I always try to make sure I give some useful information to the reader, but it's not always easy. Anyways your posts are not shit @matkodurko =)
Hah excatly, when I post someting about my life, I feel like it's shit..cuz why should someone even care...and I actually plan to start kind of Vlogging :D which will actually all be shit :D hopefully at least some timelapses and edit will be nice to watch...but still, if you;re watching cuz of edit quality, you can go on YT and watch professional vloggers who's been doing it for years...then the argument would be that we\re trying to promote a new technology and its platforms (IPFS and its DTube/DLive) with our shitty vlogs here...which is be true...but it doesnt change the fact that the content is shit regardless haha :D (not talking about ur videos now, talking about my future ones :D)
hahaahahah well let's pretend we ARE important and that people are interested LOL. Cool that you'll start vlogging!! Looking forward to watching =)
This post is really nice and very useful...continue your good work and please follow me...💯 I will follow you back...👷...💲...This small step create a big community🚩 for you and for me...i think you understand...Thanks brother...👍
I know it is nice, I wrote it, do you think I would post something I felt was not nice? Well maybe rude, offensive and demeaning but that is all subjective when it comes to the word "nice" and my thoughts on the matter.
I most likely will not follow you, although I say we are all shitposting I have an aquired taste when it comes to the shit I like.
I am new on steemit but my account is old...some days I start work on steemit... So I need some follows on steemit and I create a massage... And I invite some people...Follows=Follows...that's it...Thanks👦...sorry for disturbing...👷
I see you are powering up all your post which is good , you should be warned posting for follows on other peoples posts will get you into trouble as they can see it as spam, someone with enough power will flag you and whatever little rep you have now will be less. If you wish to bring attention to your blog it is sad to say there are not many options unless you work at it.
Make thoughtful comments on peoples posts and do not ever ask for anything, vote on things you enjoy, and with time people will be like hey that guy seems interesting let us go check his blog. Then hope you are writing things worthwhile and maybe they will keep coming back. Join discords like @steemitramble , @minnowbooster , join the steemit.chat website and honestly just socialise with the people .
If this was your own personal website how would you go about making people not only visit your content but also keep them coming back?
Thanks my brother you showed me the right path...It was very important for me to understand this...From now on I will follow all the things you told...And working hard to bring my blog forward...I do not have anything to give you, but thank you definitely...Your help is very important to me...Thank you very much for helping my brother so much👦💯...🔰...
The person with the 69 reputation had downloaded me once...Now I have come here very hard, I am here😵...Thanks for bringing me back on the right path...I am grateful to you☺...
@penderis you should boost this one, I think it deserves it =)
Haha thank you, I might just do that after a day or so, would help everyone who voted with some curation rewards I imagine.
Translation: Don't count on it
I really enjoyed reading this. I see what you're talking about. Hope I dont make bad posts. Only get about 5 to 10 likes a post but I'm trying to not post crap. Definitely giving you a follow and a resteem. Keep at it.
Well, I might want to check my mouth before I get thrown down :) Frankly, your pics are original, you are using steepshot , which is it's purpose so nothing "shit" about it. It depends who is looking, some snob novelist making 10c per short story would point at your "little pictures" and be quite upset at the vote value, not your fault you have a good backer :) .
This is why I need to change how I think about content on the Steem blockchain and in the Steem Ecosystem, completely disregarding abusers , I think we need to just consider the "authors" view instead of trying to be content cop with a clear biased to whatever it is I am interested in.
Example. I don't know how people watch others play games ... lol makes no sense to me but maybe I have not found the right game to watch someone play.
Thank you. I'm trying to get into photography more and start posting more artistic ones too. Hopefully I'll be posting videos too. I know what you mean. They are just a single pic. Sometimes I put more effort into the writing but sometimes it's a fun and interesting one. The only reason I've watched people play a video game is so I can get better at it. Like watching @knightbjj roll with others because I watch and learn. Lately in the past few months I haven't played any video games because I feel like I'm wasting my time and I'm too busy trying to be productive. Learning photography, videography, jiu jitsu, and more. Thanks for leaving a comment. I dont get alot of comments and I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy my content.
Hell, I'm feel compelled to defend myself. Yes, I've been shitting my pants for a couple of weeks now but I've got a fresh pair and I intend to keep it clean.
I believe it's worse in my case as I know I can do better. Hell, the poems/raps I've been sharing were shitty freestyles. I simply go to google, search out a random free to use image and then rally around a couple of words. I then had a sponsor who was giving roughly $0.70 per upvote. The goal was to create as many posts as possible
For me, it was a combination of factors. First off, Steem price dipped. It became harder to make my targeted 1 SBD daily as upvote didn't worth as much as they used to. Then I had to raise my target to 3 SBD as I actually need at least $3 daily to meet my daily needs.
Then @moneyinfant went AWOL so I couldn't keep up with contests. I'm not very sociable; the entire comment on other people's posts, join discord groups and all that isn't my thing. With contests, I simply tried my best to send in the best entry. Most times curators (curie, sndbox, stach, ET AL) come around and give me hefty boosts. Add that to the prize money and small group of ardent readers I had gathered and life was going on well. Well, without contests, I didn't know what to do. Like a child frightened in the dark by the prospects of going broke, I began to shit my pants.
However, I believe steemit is many things to many people. Most times, I'm compelled to think it's a reflection of reality. Take for instance, writing about one's self. I did the ULOG thing for a while (at the beginning, you got $2 on every ULOG). That shit was boring to me. On one hand, I don't like writing less than a thousand words; it doesn't helping my laziness with writing. On the other hand, I don't share my life on social media (with the exception of whatsapp statuses with my friends and family). So how do I write 1k words without sharing something deep? Simple, I shitpost.
Interestingly, there were people who were writing 'trash' as ulog. Someone takes a good selfie and decides to share it. Or you get beaten by the rain and your ulog is made. But then, it's all perspectives. I'm conscious of how I write, one wrong move and I'll pick up another bad habit.
"The moment you press post you are a content creator, just like people with phones are all photographers. :)" @penderis
Growing up, we used to argue that not everyone who speaks fast is a rapper, we lost. We argued not everyone who writes in verses is a poet, we lost. Currently, we're arguing that not everyone who writes is a writer, we're losing on that note.
I think there's a shift from depth to flow. Depth in the sense of imaginative thinking, insights and the lot. By flow, I mean nice sounding words, beautiful pictures, cliques and the likes. But then, we live in a fast-paced world, most people don't have the time to stop and think. (even if they wanted to, they don't know how to do it)
With a platform like Steemit, everyone is on the same page. We're all story tellers, writers, poets, photographers. The best guys are those with awesome post payouts (it doesn't matter if it's bought or bot's ).
Hell, I've typed something much I can't remember the point I wanted to make. I'm inclined to delete all of it. Nah. A shit post like yours deserves a shit comment like mine
