I just don't see an underlying value to these figures posted recently on http://coinmarketcap.com/.
Does it even matter what the real underlying value is. An an investment platform alt coin is booming.

They could advertise and get referal fees so there could be some sort of monatary value to it.
Do you think it matters though, people seem to invest regardless of the asset.

Clearly. but it is an indicator of underlying value.
