Wasn't aware that NEO is the "Chinese Ethereum" but that would make perfect sense indeed! China presumably, like all things, want to create a controllable endemic version of these trending technologies (whether social media, crypto or whatever) and so shut down those that are effectively controlled by Silicon Valley (FaceBook, etc) to create there own "safe" iterations.
