Will Steem Just Be Niche Site ?

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

This a real concern because I think unless it gets cheaper it might just become a niche site and not mainstream

I think because platform is too expensive there have to invest so much for little return

Mainstream Average Joe has to see value in the site

For it to go mainstream

At the minute Steemit has become to expensive in view and this could be creating a barrier to the Average Joe coming into the platform and using it

For example a new guy does a couple of post and they do ok a few dollars he makes

However he has not invested in the platform and soon his posts do not make him any dollars at all

At this point most new users will leave they are not making money this is what Steemit is about

Why will the new users stay ?

Let say the new user decides to invest and buy $100 worth of Steem

Then Powers up it

This gives them very little if any money on there posts

Therefore the average will soon lose interest and leave the site.

Currently you need about $20,000 to get a steem dollar for every post you make

Which is not cheap investment

The lack of return of the Average Joe means that the platform may not get that mainstream growth due to how expensive it is

I agree with this especially the fact that it is too expensive. The community developers should work on this. Thank you for sharing my thoughts @newmarket65

Yeah its got too expensive now and this is a barrier to the growth of platform. New members will earn nothing and will not see the benefit of using it so they will leave. I do not know how this can be fixed. It may even get more expensive the Steem price rises

I wish the appropriate authorities could see this

No. It will crush Facebook.

Steem can look like a Pozni scheme to the average Joe.
