Steemit as a publisher?
I was just sat here about to go to bed and had a thought. We all write about our lives, or about the things we enjoy such as photography, cryptocurrencies, economics etc and our content is primarily kept as an internal post but what if Steemit, on our behalf, started to license our posts out to earn cold hard cash?
In any open economy, you have to have money coming in from elsewhere. It's no different for the cryptocurrencies so I think Steemit's operating company could license our content out, earn an income itself but we also earn part of that as the content creators. This creates a revenue stream for Steem (see what I did there lol) and us, and it also helps to strengthen the Steem brand, promoting it on various sites that are seen by people who may not have a clue about cryptocurrencies and could become interested after seeing a cryptocurrency based community publishing articles for everyone else.
Just an idea. It would be good to see Steem do very well ;-)
By licensing our content out, would we be just selling our raw information? I get that if someone wanted to compress the media of steem it into a reliable, mainstream site that it could be done. It would take time to sort through the content to really gather a voice that accurately portrayed steem it. Maybe we could nominate someone to be a reporter of steem? Like give out a little daily news, that wasn't biased or fake... the world needs a good, non-partial reporter to give a clear record of facts. I just want to know the facts! You would think you could trust the news, I trust steem it more than the news or Facebook. It would be nice if someone would clear out the excess fuzz and leave behind pure reality for readers.
Hi,
I was thinking either each article could be possibly used so the person wanting the content could look through articles and decide the one they want. Or it could be done by category (or sub-category), so all food related articles for a food blog or website for instance.
Plus there's possibly the option of them using the API to access the entire database of content and paying for each article that is clicked on through their website
To an extent we're all biased so it would be difficult to find someone that will use only the facts for all of their reporting. But I suppose holding them accountable, or having a group working together to report the news would be helpful as they can force each other to (try to) take a more detached view when it's required. The main stream media has really screwed it all up and made it harder to know who to trust for the facts now, even Government agencies like to attempt to spin their statistics at times. But maybe one day this will change ;-)
Instead of fake news I wish someone would post real news! We need a good unbiased voice... the link to the articles is a wonderful idea. I googled something I don't remember what the other day and a steem article was the second hit. I should have screen shorted it and celebrated it with you guys. Maybe I can find it... I shall check.
