LORD SHIVA

Shiva is one of the principal deities of hindiusm. He is the surpreme being within..... Shiva is known by many names such as vishwanatha (lord of the universe) , Mahadev , bholnath.....etc

Accordung to the shaivism sect the highest form of shive is formless , limtless, transcendent and upchanging absoulte BRAHMAN and the primal Atman ( soul , self) of the universe. They are many both benevolent and fersome depictions of shiva. In benevolent aspects he is depicted as an omnisicent yogi who lives as ascetic life and Mount kailash as well as a householder with wife parvati and his two children, Ganesha and Kartikiya. In his fierce aspects he is often depicted slaying demons. Shiva is also knows as Adiyogi shiva , regarded as the patron god of yoga, meditation and arts.

There is a shivratri in every lunar month on its 13th night / 14 night but once a year later winter ( february,March) before the arrival of springs, marks MAHASHIVRATRI which means "THE GREAT NIGHT OF THESHIVA
