I might find a show I like but after a season or two, it is pulled. Not because it is a bad show necessarily but, it doesn't appeal to the demographic the advertisers are wanting to target.
That suddenly makes sense. Maybe that's why Netflix is taking of so well. It's something we're choosing to pay for so if it doesn't provide what viewers want they're going to leave.
There are no adverts there so it is largely customer driven. It also means they they centralize their production to maximize returns as they do not need to pay as much and can drive their own content, GoT for HBO, House of Cards (before ) for Netflix.
