RE: Solving the scalability and onboarding problems - Incubating Accounts

in #steem6 years ago

you know, I'm pretty much aligned with your thoughts on this, but if you would be surprised to know that we are in the minority.

On the other hand, there are plenty of people in the world who can't afford to buy a premium account, people in third world countries, and lowering the barrier for entry for the unbanked is part of the mission when it comes to cryptos.

Sort:

That's fair. Perhaps a sliding scale be used on new account creation and in the regions where higher household incomes exist, the amount required to establish the account is higher, and it's clear that the premium is used to fund the admission of an unbanked user in the developing world.

Add to that, the grants that are given from the premium account establishment are given to pre-vetted applicants who have been trained on how to take advantage of the opportunity to better their lives and the platform at the same time.

I am not at all surprised that we are in the minority. There's not much that exists in this world that most people won't simply try to turn into the existing popular 'thing.'

It's up to the thinkers amongst us to help push through the "we've always done it this way" crowds...
