It's because of the wallet size

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Thoughts expressed here are my opinion and nothing but my opinion. I hope that no one feels attacked by the things I'm saying in the slightest. Honestly, I don't think anyone should, but private dms always show me one can never put enough caveats and enough couches when approaching touchy subjects.

This short vlog is an open invitation to dialogue, so please, specially if you disagree, let me know your thoughts on this matter.

Much love

The way to have an intelligent conversation is to talk to an intelligent person.

But your friend wasn't asking you to be intelligent, your friend was asking you to be influential. And that could be related to Steempower.

But for the most influence, neither Steempower nor intelligence are sufficient. Both can be misguided.

The most important qualities would probably be engagement and compassion. And it doesn't take long to realize who has those qualities. So maybe your friend was right, but for the wrong reasons. :)

Rodney brother, i reserved a good spot for you on discord... you presence is expected at this time.

Size never matters, no matter what you're talking about ahahaha. No in all seriousness VP has NOTHING to do with being smart and more importantly being right =). It would be very sad if one is not taken seriously because they don't have mUCH VP, because that would mean that I'm not being taken seriously.... =)

100% - It's obvious that if got a brand new account, we might be at a disadvantage, but we certainly are not blocked off from opportunity... at least not completely.

No. Wallet size doesn't matter for intelligent conversation. However, being a person with a lot of reach will make it more likely to be heard. This is a pretty obvious statement.

If I were someone with no wallet, and did not have the platform that posting on my own blog would have any reach, what I would do instead is find someone that does have that property, and strike up a conversation. If you have something of interest, people will respond. Simple as that.

Would like to add that someone with a fat wallet does not necessarily have a lot of reach either. Very important distinction.

So there you go Eon, its more about being someone who can have outward reach... if you is be edumecated propersly and can do maff for example... then you be gud..

On a serious note, that's it, you nailed it... if you are a tiny island and never get out there, you will remain a tiny island.. if you got 400 SP but are more visible than a stain of ketchup on your white t-shirt then you are good to go.

you will remain a tiny island

You tawkin bout us...I assure you size is not a problem...I assure you

So you're a good candidate for getting the word out there :P

The entire Hearst empire was started by someone with very little money at one time...so....yeah. How much VP someone currently has might probably not be a good way the determine the worth of a person's ideas.

Agreed my friend... 100%

I think people who has money vested into the steem block chain have skin in the game. However, It doesn't matter how big your rep or wallet is, anyone here can provide value. A whale could make a claim that 2+2=5 and a plankton could object and say it was actually 4. It only holds value in terms of voting weight and perceived reputation.

agreed muh fren... :clap::clap::clap:

Never crossed my mind. Someone with a high SP could be as thick as a plank. It actually shouldn't even be considered in my opinion.

you are in the minority brother...

It is sad but I can believe it. Maybe there is too much sucking up going on. If someone says something and it is wrong you shouldn't be flagged for disagreeing or ignored because you have low SP. Someone may have a brilliant idea that no one has thought of yet and surely anyone with a brain will listen. I know certain people on here have huge influence because of their SP but it doesn't mean they are right all the time. Everyone has a voice and they should be heard only if it is adding value.
