So, without much in the way of communication, it seems like this whole blockchain magic has restarted. Now, I don't want to alarm anyone here, but I'm not understand the logic behind the "reset" so to speak and I wonder if it was done manually, which is a problem on it's own.
But then again, this whole thing is speculation from my part and nothing else. I sincerely hope that @steemitblog gets shakespearean on us, because I feel like many, many questions were left unanswered and I'm not the only one who is a bit upset for the dark hours. I'm not specifically talking about the downtime, but all the hours that nothing was said to witnesses who are supposed to be the custodians of this blockchain.
Needless to say, the #drama is about to start, specially because some witnesses unlike me don't hold back. However, I hope that we can move on, and keep on keeping on as they say soon enough.
Regardless of the fumble, we must pick ourselves from the floor and resume. The mission is still the same one, and if anything these next few days, or maybe even a week with many services being down, will prove interesting to say the least.
We are not going to be messing much with @helpie at the moment, simply because the VP continues to be dusted. However this does not mean it's time to slow down or anything of the sort. Maybe it's time to focus on planning, and possibly finishing out those drafts we all have sitting on the google drive cloud.

Oh Nathen, we are having some heavy discussion on this matter and as you can see from whatsup's comment, there are some political dynamics that are absolutely detrimental for the health of this blockchain.
My intent, or I guess you could say my style, is to evoke conversation and not to bash. Because I know that if I start out by kicking the dog, the door gets slammed in my face.
However, believe me when I say... Steemit Inc and leadership will know my position, as I've stated it very clearly in the right channels.
There was a testnet but not fully fledged, and hence did not incorporate RC's on it. It's obvious now the HF was not done responsibly, that is not up for debate and yes, people would have complained about more delays, but no doubt, delays would be better than the fumble we are experiencing at the moment.
Steemit Inc's nodes are almost caught up (replays) and it's fully expected for everything to normalize by tonight for most if not all users.
On the same note, we are going to be doing a special show on MSP-waves about the HF, clearing up the air, an open forum if you will. You are welcome to stop by brother.

The reset is very straightforward to explain-- it doesn't allow pre-fork transactions to deduct mana if you don't have enough mana. So as we re-played the blocks, it wasn't letting anyone's mana drop like crazy.
oooh I see that makes sense... well, im sure there is someone right now typing away for @steemitblog hitting backspace wondering how not to trigger negative responses.

Yeah, RC wasn't supposed to go below zero, so the reset fixed the bug that let that happen and set everyone back to 0 to try again.
This roll out has been a total FUBAR. They need to get their act together in the future. Taking a network down like this is not cool.
I'm not going to complain. Steemit was fun before and it will probably be fun again. Running out of the secret sauce will be a temporary issue. There will be more mana tomorrow.

I have a lot of mixed feelings also, and I also hold the Witnesses accountable for what gets dropped.
It is their job to say, we can't in good faith of the community roll out this code.
sadly the political costs of saying no puts many in a terrible predicament.... but I 100% understand where you are coming from.
It does not seem too logical to 7 days after a blockchain halt to roll out the fork anyways. I mean, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just don't say I see that as a good plan.
I've heard this new witness mantra also, and anyone who feels that way, is not someone I want to vote for because it equals a risk to my investment.
What I hear is... I am accepting money for a job that I will not or can not do. It's a ugly position and shows a lack of character in my opinion. I admit am old school.
If I can't trust the witnesses to have enough integrity to push back on code, I need to get my money out of this project. Period.
fully sympathize... its hard to not understand bernie these days... but the top guys run the show. Not updating helpie would have changed nothing for example.
I want to be fair, but that also includes being fair to myself and my investment, just like you.
I'll vote for this as soon as it won't put my VP in the negative range... HA! But at least we can post and interact... I'm not going to be full-on sour grapes over this...

I'm not entirely sure... but it seems like if you upvote right now, it bazookas your VP - So, the VP is not balanced out just yet, just your Resource Credits.
All replays should finish today as far as I know, and when all Nodes are up and running these problems should disappear.
I really do not understand why RC's were not tested. There isn't even much information about how it all works. I am powering up on a regular basis, and this makes me wonder......... How will newbie's EVER figure this out. This needs to be simpler ....... I too would upvote but my RC is 25% and my voting mana is 30% really, before the HF I was 100%
it will brother, it will... its still so early in the game, let's not forget that!
