RE: Loving Steem!

Will there be an addition in the future that will make it a little easier to post images and videos without using markdown, like a wysiwyg editor? That would be a cool edition for those of us not that familiar with markdown. It’s one of the reasons I don’t like posting on Reddit that much.

Markdown is so simple and such a portable format that I think everyone should learn it and it should be used everywhere. Everyone should learn to separate content and structure from representation. M$ Word has tought us the wrong way - to think about font size etc...

Here is an example of how simple it is:

>This will be shown as a quote

# This is a level 1 header
This is a paragraph

This is another paragraph
## This is a level 2 header
1. This is a numbered list
2. This is an item in the same list

- This is an unordered list
- This is another item in the list

This will be shown as a quote

This is a level 1 header

This is a paragraph

This is another paragraph

This is a level 2 header

  1. This is a numbered list
  2. This is an item in the same list
  • This is an unordered list
  • This is another item in the list

See how simple it is? It's just amazing. This also leaves it to the developers to decide how everything will be formatted depending on the screen size.

Sort:

Many more people would use formatting if it was WYSIWYG. This doesn't mean that content and presentation can't be kept separate behind the scenes. It just means the average user should be shielded from the markdown. At the very least, they generally shouldn't have to type it out. There should be formatting buttons above the post so users can highlight text within the post and click a button to apply markdown corresponding to the desired formatting. Again, that would enable more people to use formatting. And save everyone else time. Anyway, I assume something like that is in the works.
