I was wondering the same thing as I joined Steemit today and the only content I have is from my blog. I do have a few entries written for a book I started writing last year but haven't published yet. I am a writer who is just beginning to look into getting my stuff published for pay and I know with that companies are mostly looking for unpublished material.
