RE: The Goose And The Golden Steem - A Tale By Cryptogee

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

I wonder if part 2 will include something about how the owners of said goose distribute the golden steem to the gardens and whether or not the farmers are happy with the distribution model or if only a few receive too much because the goose misses gardens not noticed by the important people of the land... Maybe the farmers begin working to get the attention of the important people instead of creating beautiful gardens for all to enjoy.

Or maybe it'll all just work out over time. Either way, I'm looking forward to however the story develops. Very well done! :)

I was going to put into the story about how the family isn't always coherent, but thought I would leave that to the comment section. It's a good point, I know that a lot of whales who are way more influencial than me, are concerned about that.

The follow function will help and we are constantly trying to highlight good content, for instance I highlighted somebody's business article yesterday, and he received $800.

It will get better, keep the faith :-)

I think whales should go on an upvoting spree, especially among foreign language posts to spread it further. Then it would be cool if one could boost content with steem, for instance by burning them. Similar to what Synereo does with AMP.

lukestokes if you don't get a whale upvote you don't even get the goose poo . I like the idea of steemit but to few have too much power . One problem is the down vote it only takes 1 whale to down vote and you're left with squat.
I for one think the down vote NOT a good idea it will piss people off because it reduces what they think they are going to get . I say no down vote and if you don't like what you see state that in your reply. Well you know what they say you can't please all the wales all the time .

I think the downvote is incredibly important to maintain the quality of the content. If you hang out in the Steemit Slack, you'll see constant activity in the #steemitabuse channel. People are working hard to protect this community from those trying to game the system. A downvote is needed for that.

As for not getting goose poo... how much has Twitter or Facebook ever paid out to content creators and curators? A few pennies is more than the other sites have given out even after years of creating content. People around here have $$$ in their eyes a little too much for my taste. It manipulates their expectations which, as you said, leads to disappointment. That, to me, is a problem with their expectations more than anything else. This is beta. It's an incredible experiment. We don't know what it will be so most expectations are just wild-ass guesses.

I'll be writing a post about the $$$-eyes problem shortly (trying to get some "real" work done for a change first).

Fuck yes; well said.

I ended up writing that post after all, if you're interested. A bit of CSS added to your browser's view of Steemit via the Stylish extension hides all $ signs. I'm running an experiment on myself to hide them all for 24 hours. So far, it's changed my voting quite a bit.

Yes, unfortunately this is the problem of doing a massive premine and not being able to safely do an ICO to at least let perhaps 1000 people buy some coin and get a slightly better distribution.

To be honest, I think Dan and Ned should consider doing another network where the POW lasts for something like forever.

I understand people making the software need to be rewarded, but I do not like the grandfather effect - meaning that when we're all dead or pretty damn old the youngest generation has no incentive to build on this because it will be skewed to the people that inherit steem.

But perhaps that is just the natural cycles that creates business cycles. Though if that problem is not tackled and addressed by some crypto, it becomes hard for some crypto's to become like a gold standard for 100s or 1000s of years to come.
