I have heard that in China the merchants are very big on taking payments directly through smartphones through payments made by social networks and QR codes. One thing that I thought might help Steem would be to be able to make better use of QR codes through both making or giving payments.

For example, perhaps I could be able to post a QR code under this comment and have the first person that replied to the comment and scanned the code receive 5 LEO or some other token.

Or if a vendor has a product for sale, it could be marked with a QR code to make it easy to pay Steem Dollars to the vendor for the cost of the product. (I hope that Steem Dollars will be pegged to the dollar better at some point.)
