Steemit curators have spoken
Corporate sponsored littering is valued at $10,000 on steemit today.
I will be powering down as I no longer want to be associated with a community that supports these kind of environmentally blind corporate cult activities. I was one of the first members of the community and I deserve my voice to be heard in protest. I do not think that we should endorse such behavior. I know whales hate me, but my minnows vote is steadily increasing. We are the many. You are the few.

It is really sickening to trash our precious nature just like this :( though this is just small thing compared to big companies etc... But anyway this release of balloons didn't make any sense and yes she should clean the mess she is causing.... Only way we can help to actions like that to happen is to flag posts like that.
Thanks for noticing how stupid this was. Everybody should be aware of such behavior and NOT do this, for the sake of MONEY...

That's not the platform's fault. That is the fault of people upvoting her post. Any platform that pays out some form of compensation for posts is going to attract people who are not completely altruistic in their motivations. This sort of thing will likely happen on any other similar platform that may pay out money for content in the future. If people think they are going to make money upvoting a post, they will do so regardless of the nature of the post. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about it except create different ways for people to downvote posts that promote socially unacceptable behavior.
