Steem - Well things sure don't stay the same for long around here!
If you haven't been following along, there is a lot of things happening with steem...
If you had been living under a rock the past few weeks, lets recap...
First, Justin Sun announced that he had acquired steemit.com and steemit, inc roughly 2 weeks ago.
Then he made some public statements that seemed to indicate he had plans of moving the steem token over to tron.
Things many steemians did not want to hear.
Those statements were shortly followed by some public comments that in fact he wouldn't be moving steem over to tron...
Something man steemians did want to hear.
But of course, those comments were then followed by some more confusing statements the following days that seemed to imply that he was indeed planning on moving steem over to tron.
Confusing!
The overall gist?
No one really knew for sure exactly what the heck was going on and this has gone on for much of the past week and a half!
Fast forward to the present...
Apparently the steem witnesses had not been taking this possible threat laying down...
They had been working together much of last week and into the weekend coming up with a soft fork that would essentially prevent Justin Sun from using his newly purchased stake from changing the governance of steem.
Something that is extremely controversial to say the least.
Last night the vast majority of the top 20 witnesses started running the code for this new soft fork which excluded the Justin Sun stake.
Shortly after this info was made public, Justin Sun responded by making a post on Steemit saying that he wanted to meet with the Top 50 witnesses in the coming weeks and hash out a plan that could be worked out for the benefit of both sides.
And that is where we stand currently...
The witnesses put protective measures in place and Sun agreed to a meeting in order to work out a plan to benefit both sides.
This is probably the most controversial thing ever done with/on steem.
In my opinion it will either help Sun and steem work together and create tremendous value for both parties, or it will end up being the undoing of steem.
Time will tell...
Stay informed my friends.

Thanks for the try!
At least they didnt jump immediately to the hard fork.
This is controversial and questionable as to what the results will be. For now, it seems to work that it is bringing him to the table.
Anyone's guess what comes out of this.

Yea we will see. I'm not really sure pissing him off and threatening to lock his stake is the best move here, but we will see I guess. Plus even if we "win" (whatever that means at this point), the fact this was even threatened is probably not good long term in my opinion.
I'm not really sure pissing him off and threatening to lock his stake is the best move here
The biggest understatement on steem, yet.
I have to presume that the witnesses have never lived in China (or hong kong) , or done business with Chinese companies before .
I've done both.
If you have any idea what this potentially means in the long run, you'd be powering down - asap!
I would say 'naive' describes this, but it would be a lie.
We need to invent a new word to cover this fuck up - as it's waaaaaaaaaay beyond what the word naive encapsulates
Undoing of steem is more probable in my opinion.
Luckily, most of the time my predictions are wrong, hehe.

It depends. It all depends on what comes of this meeting with Justin. Judging by the fact he is moving the lino blockchain over to tron (well doing a token swap) it probably adds more credence to the idea he was planning on doing the same with steem. Which means this move may end up saving the blockchain. What it ultimately means for the coin price remains to be seen though...
To swap or not to swap?
Million-dollar question.

Since I joined, I hadn't heard or experienced something this intriguing with Steem. While certainly controversial, it did at least managed to get Justin Sun's attention, and it certainly shows how far Steemians will go to defend the platform's integrity. Hopefully this meeting will result in an amicable, and productive settlement.
Yes, hopefully.
