Steem perspective from a noobie. Good, bad, and raw!

Let me start by saying steem is awesome!
This is day 3 for me. Hard learning the ropes.
Wish i could push reset and start over though.
Its o.k.

So here's my honest unbiased opinion at this point. Ill try and point out the good things along with the bad and ways steem might be improved. Keep in mind im not a coder or engineer. Just a basic consumer offering my opinion.

For starters the concept is brilliant. Get paid for providing and sharing useful content.
If you enjoy social media already why not try it?
Its 100% free to join and they also give u a small amount of coin to start. This aspect is great for growing the user base.

As a new user it can be incredibly overwhelming as there's not a hole lot of answers beyond the tech worded faq page. Don't give up though.
If youve used basically any social media platform it works basically the same.

The beauty of the algorithm is it pays more for authors of content that is upvoted the most.
Meaning more people enjoyed your post.
The catch for newbies is people dont typically upvote a post if it doesnt have good money generating already. The new guys just run and jump on another post that already has steem and momentum. So the trick is getting upvotes without having enough steem to drive them.
Understandably this is designed to keep the power of the platform free.
So this is a double sided argument for me.

Day 3 i have the basics down. Understand witnesses. Its poorly described in the faq page but once it clicks for you its basically common sense. Gained just under 30 followers. I have no idea how much ive earned so far which is kimd of frustrating. Seems you have to give it a few weeks to let the post life of 7 days to start trickling in. So be patient and keep growing and adding to the community.

Few ideas i have for any community developers if they seem viable.
Reward system. Tiered. To where when i bring in a new community member from my link i get .05% of future earnings from them.
Full tracking and listing of all tags ever mentioned.
Powerups. Maybe certain days like birthdays you get a type of powerup. Maybe 1 free vote power refill.... nothing huge.
Its the little things that grow.
If we could change how names of followers weren't alphabetical and were searchable.
Im sure ill think of more.
