How I Lost & Found My Steemit Account Password
One of my happiest days in 2017 was when I received a verification mail from Steemit that my account had been verified. I got the mail at around 08:32pm on Friday, 15th December and I could not curtail my excitement such that I had to scream so loud that my whole household became scared, as if something bad had happened to me. I had to scream because I had waited over three days for the mail.
There and then, I proceeded to opening the link as instructed and I filled out the necessary details needed to set up my account. Whilst filling and reading the site’s policies, I read a particular section which states you are responsible for your password, keep it safe and secured because there is no option of password recovery.
I must confess that I took that section with levity as my goal on that night was to set up my account and start posting unique and well structured articles as quick as possible because the hint that @gentleshaid who introduced me to Steemit get me was enough to get my blood rushing.
When I was done with the registration, I copied my password in a piece of paper and kept it in my wallet, as it never occurred to me then that my wallet might get stolen or misplaced and again, I was feeling extremely lazy to save it in my mail box and I went ahead to delete the verification mail from my inbox (a decision I regret at the long run).
Five days after my successfully registration on Steemit and also basking in the euphoria of having a platform to write on interesting topics and earn some money, I went out on this fateful day with my wallet carelessly placed in my back pocket. While struggling with fellow passengers to board a bus, I felt this sharp and sudden removal of something from my back pocket as my trouser instantly became very light. I quickly turned back and saw a shabbily dressed guy making away with my brown wallet where I kept 10,000 and most importantly, my dear Steemit account password 😭😭😭😭😭.
I quickly ran tirelessly after this thief while at the same time screaming “thief thief thief” so that it would get the attention of passersby who might perhaps help me apprehend him, but all to no avail. After three minutes of chasing, I realized I could not catch up with him; I just had to let him go.
For the rest of that day, all I could think of was my long Steemit password as I was less bothered about the 10,000, my identification card and other valuable items. I couldn’t eat that night because I didn’t want to start all over again as my reputation had skyrocketed from 25 to 30 for my introductory post alone and had already fetched me $5.30. it is pertinent to state that I already gave up on Steemit as I had logged out my account and failed to back up my password whenever I signed in.
The next morning, I got the greatest surprise of 2017. I woke up to see my adorable wallet beside my bed because all along, it was only a DREAM 😂😂😂. Immediately I realized It was a dream, the first thing I did was to immediately take out the piece of paper where I wrote my password, typed it and saved it in my two e-mail addresses, because who knows, what if the dream went on to become a reality???
Lesson
This narrative above looks like a fiction or sounds funny but everyone should learn from this, especially the newbies on this site. Steemit is not like Facebook or Twitter where you can recover password if you forget or misplace your password because it was emphatically stated at the point of registration that a user is solely responsible for his/her password as there is no other means of retrieving a lost password. “Please , please and please, let’s keep our Steemit account password safe”.
Haha it was all a dream! I love the post! Didnt see that twist coming! Keep it up bro! 😀

I immediately knew it was a joke when i read this part...
So, i scrolled to the end to see if it was truly a joke or not. My suspicion, confirmed. Nice one. As fictional as it may look. Its a lesson to everyone to always back up their passwords. Not just steemit but every site they are logged into
And again... Your upvote would be appreciated too... 😀 😀 😀
