The run the ecosystem with so much impunity that we have no other choice
nobody is even running it in the first place. it is like a lost puppy left to wander under abandoned bridges, alleys and slums.
There is a rumour about a protocol where other Blockchain will be built and understanding it to me is still hard. But if it does happen, I am sure the guys up there on Steemit will try to step up their game.

Well, it's got elements of being decentralized. At the same time, early adopters and others with a lot of SP hold the keys. So there is manipulation, and some of it is even hilariously blatant. I think the communities idea might have helped some by creating many ecosystems. An easier way to cash out might have helped too.
