I've also come across many people complaining that steemit is biased for the steem content. But, you've pointed it right that as more people from different backgrounds join this platform, this so called drawback would disappear. In fact, the only reason behind this content biasedness is the greater number of steem enthusiasts on steemit than outside content creators. So, once the influx of outsiders takes place, everything gets sort out.
