We'll see what happens but I think the gamification of upvotes is the problem and more downvotes isn't going to help it. People should upvote content they like (of course), not content that they think will make them the most. Of course we have the system we have and it's not completely changing anytime too soon! Given that, I would have gone with 60/40 first and see how that went.
Youre exactly right. People should be using upvotes genuinely because thinking about money hinders your ability to act like a normal social human being for once. They just arent as smart and wise as you @harvhat.
50/50 will definitely increase curation but that doesnt mean it will increase content consumption. The user experience can feel awkward when you have so much on your mind (upvote, upvote strength, curation rewards, etc) while trying to interact. It still doesnt work seamlessly for sure.
