Why you should always buy when there is blood on the streets
There is a famous saying that you should buy when there is blood on the streets.
In times like these when the crypto markets (and indeed markets in general) are a sea of red, it is important to keep one's head when others are losing theirs (sometime literally).
I want to tell a personal story of investing when there was literally blood on the streets.
18 Israelis were murdered by a palestinian terrorist at the Sbarro Pizza parlour in downtown Jerusalem 0n 9 Aug 2001.
From 2001 until 2004 Israel endured a bloody wave of terrorism with homicide bombers exploding in weddings, cafes and pizza parlours. It took a while for the Israeli government to get its act together and work out how to defeat this terror wave, but by 2003 a combination of measures were beginning to reduce the death toll.
I visited Jerusalem in 2002 at the height of the terror wave and in March 2003 made a trip especially to look for an apartment to buy for investment.
The real estate market was dead. The real estate agents drove me around from property to property like I was a visiting prince.
I eventually settled on an apartment and purchased it.
It was the best investment I ever made!
By 2005 the Israeli security forces had substantially defeated the terrorists and very few attacks were getting through.
At the same time Israel was at the beginning of an economic and fertility boom that has made Israeli real estate some of the most expensive in the world.
Its pretty scary investing when everyone else is running away, but if you believe that something has a great future, like Israel & Steem, you need to summon up your courage, go against the crowd and invest when there is blood on the streets.
From what I saw at SteemFest, Steem has a great future so I'm investing as much as I can in Steem.
I hope it turns out as well as my Jerusalem investment and that the sea of red we are seeing remains only pixels rather than blood!
