STEEMIT: LOST IN A SEA OF CONFUSION
I don’t know any other way to say it, so I’ll just state it the way I see it. Steemit is a great, ground breaking idea, but the confusion caused by its complicated, mathematical based reward system, has most of its users, including myself, boggled and bedazzled, as to how it actually works and sustains itself.
I would venture to guess that 95% of the users on this platform, have little to no idea, how the rewards system actually works, and of that number, the majority of them struggle to keep afloat in this vast sea of ignorance. They write thoughtful and informative posts, that far too many times, go unrecognized, unappreciated, and unrewarded. They do their best to read and upvote posts that they feel are warranted and have merit, but their power is insignificant and finite, so they are confused as to why they are putting in such great effort, and getting so little in return.
I have only been an active member for a few weeks now, and I understand the workings of a “Learning Curve” , but I have to say that here on Steemit, there are so many things to know and learn, that perhaps there should be some sort of educational process that needs to be installed, or enforced, prior to just jumping off the ship, into the depths of the dark and briny sea, that is Steemit. I know that what I’m proposing may sound ludicrous to some of you, but the reality is, that we sign up for Steemit, wait a few weeks, wonder during this waiting period, what’s taking them so long to approve me, and the POOF..... All of a sudden, you’re here adrift at sea, and you know absolutely nothing about Steemit, how it works, what to do, or how to be successful. I know that there are Introductions to read , when you first become a member, but nobody really reads that crap, and if they do, it doesn’t really explain what’s going on here.
I propose that to become a member of Steemit, the applicant should have to read an outline of how the basics actually work here. How upvotes work, and how many upvotes we should be doing on a daily basis to maintain maximum efficiency. How commenting on posts is important, and vital to the Steemit Community, as a whole. How creating good content is the aim of every Steemian, and ensuring that good content is equitably compensated. How plagiarism, copyright infringements, and spam are policed and penalized. All of these subjects, and more, should be covered, explained, and then, though this may be an unpopular idea, THE APPLICANT SHOULD BE TESTED FOR THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORKINGS OF STEEMIT, PRIOR TO BEING APPROVED. IF YOU PASS THE TEST: YOU’RE IN, IF NOT, STUDY UP AND RETEST.
Too many people are getting here, myself included, without a clue as to what’s going on, or how anything actually works. The Newbs are the Future if Steemit, so why not give them a heads up about what they are going to face once they’re thrown off the ship, into the water.
I’ve learned quite a bit since I joined, but it took a lot of Googling and time, to learn things that should be easily transparent on this very site. If we have to rely on Google to get our information, what does that speak of Steemit???
I Love Steemit, and want to see it flourish into
FB X 10, but for that to happen, either things need to be simplified, or there needs to be a whole lot more emphasis put on education of using the system that is Steemit. I hope to live long enough to say,” I remember when Steemit was just a floundering seal pup in the ocean. Look at it now, the number 1 Social Media/ Blogishere on Earth.
These are my thoughts. I hope they are appreciated and considered. Best Regards, My Steemian Friends.
