RE: Haejin Update - Just Under 4%, $4.68Mill a Year

in #steem6 years ago

What exactly can be done about this? Just flag him? That doesn't really sound fair. Are normal people upvoting his posts or is he just botting everything? I agree that making THAT much from so many posts seems like abuse but if thats what people uvpote isn't it kinda fair?

Sort:

There is one account adding most of the value.

Sorry i did not know that. Seems like a pretty bad exploit on the site...

Yeah, not sure how to fix it. I have thought about a percentage cap. One account can't make more than 1% of the pool or whatever that percentage would be.

But then someone could just make multiple accounts. =\

Most of his rewards, more than 90%, are from one single account.

And one of the reasons for flagging is disagreement over rewards. It is 100% fair. But I don't think flagging is the complete fix.

I did know that. To me it seemed like he was just extremely popular with many people voting for him. Is that basically like me having a friend with a huge votewight voting for every one of my posts? Correct?

Yes, but the 4% of the pool takes away from the ability to grow other individuals on Steem which lessons the ability for Steem to grow.

Now let's say 10 people do this at 3% a piece. That is 30% of the finite pool that can't just grow bigger because we want it to. That hurts the overall health of Steem and can be its downfall. The idea is to make Steem last. :]

Also, I have made other posts but, he has random times where a ton of accounts just go through and up vote EVERY post he makes. Systematically, one account at a time, not overlapping with votes. Almost like a script is up voting him. These accounts are shell accounts that have never done anything, all they have is the amount of SP the steem block chain gave them, and all they do is up vote Haejin.

There are also TONS of accounts that ONLY ever post on Haejin stuff. he has thousands of accounts that somehow ONLY exist within his Haejin circle. I find that to be extremely improbable as, I would hope, anyone who joins Steemit would also branch out into other users. Not just ONE user. It doesn't make sense.

Also, again, Rancho should be up voting multiple people, not just himself and Haejin. It wouldn't make sense for a whale to not up vote anyone else. I believe Rancho is Haejin. He would have the ability, if he is as good as he says, to make tons of crypto and buy 1.3 million Steem back during the summer.

If he is rancho and is up voting himself, cool, whatever. Don't hide it.

There is just a lot of sketchy things around this WHOLE situation, and I personally feel we are not being given the full truth, or the whole story.

Just my honest opinion.

I will say again as I have been saying, I don't care how much money he makes. I care what % of the pool he is taking from other deserving Steemians.

Yep. As a new user it seems like the only way to grow big is to have big friends who vote for you. Still as of now im not interested only in just making money on SteemIt but im more interested in the way it works and what makes it tick. I hope i can power up my account to a level where my vote is more than like 0.005$. Still thank you for info on this topic and sharing some fixes. Im really interested in when SteemIt self will try to do something about it.

Definitely. I am glad a new Steemian is asking for clarification and getting involved on the platform.

You will eventually get up to the point where your up vote is worth more!

You can try using @ocd or the tag ocd-resteem if you are a struggling new user who would like some love. It is ran by @acidyo who puts in a lot of time and personal voting power to help out minnows grow and get a foot in the platform!
