Life On STEEM—2036
Life is good.
I wouldn't say everything is perfect, but since STEEM became the global digit currency it was originally created to be, things have improved dramatically.
I can't say those of us who built up stake on STEEM before the masses came are all filthy rich, but those who did are a sight better off than those who came in later. And because we also established a healthy community, we were able to better facilitate the rapid growth.
It wasn't an easy thing by any means, but it's been worth it. The pain, the suffering. All it took was for about ten percent of us users to say enough was enough. All of the millennia old in the box way of thinking everyone brought with them—scarcity, control, might makes right—all of that had to be overcome.
But we did it.
To see the STEEM logo everywhere still gives me chills. The fact that everything I do is up on the blockchain, and that it can be used for anything, is nothing short of a miracle. A literal dream come true. And I've been on cloud nine ever since.
End Of Five Minutes
The convenience in and of itself is remarkable. I think of all the children who will be born into this world who will never need to think about cash, or credit or even cards or pay points. All they need is a STEEM account and a way to access it.
That's all that's required. And because of the price of STEEM vs. fiat, everything is cheap and affordable.
It's not been so long ago, only eight years since the horrific events that threatened to end life on earth as we know it, but now that is all behind us, and we can move forward, peacefully, and prosperously.
And I finally feel like I can indulge a little bit.
I wanted a medium-sized twist ice cream cone. When I ordered it in the drive thru, they asked me for my username, and after I gave it, I received on my smartphone a notification that my account was being charged 0.005 STEEM. It only took a moment to accept it, and by the time I got to the window, my cone was ready and I was on my way.
I'd been waiting to buy a new car. About three weeks ago, I started looking around online. I found one and someone from the local dealer sent brought the car to my home for a test drive. I had an immediate gut reaction the moment I got in. I wanted this car.
Once they had my username, a request for 342.858 STEEM came to my phone. I approved it with a simple tap of the screen. The entry/starter remote was put in my hand and I am now the owner of a completely paid for Audi RS 10.
From test drive to ownership took less than 30 minutes.
My wife and I just got back from a trip to Maui for our 47th wedding anniversary. We stayed for two weeks in a wonderful beachside home. Flight, food, transportation, and entertainment came to 10.2 STEEM.
Two hours ago I went grocery shopping. I did it online, and a large delivery drone just set down in my driveway. I checked to make sure all was there, and sent the drone on its way. Grocery bill including the delivery: 0.743 STEEM.
Life is great. I'm really glad we made it.

This post was written with six daily prompts from the five-minute freewrite. All six prompts can be found in italics. They were used in the order they were given.
Ok you officially a my freewriterock love it I am not a great writer but I might have to try it just for fun and expanding my horizon!
Happy Easter dear and be well
Britt
I think I end up doing a freewrite once a week now, so I combine the prompts from previous days. I've actually enjoyed doing that more than just going for five minutes. This time, I combined it with a series I've been doing about future glimpses at life into the future if STEEM becomes what it's supposed to be. I don't alway do that, but this time I felt like I wanted to get in both the freewrite and the Life On STEEM.
It looks like a great fiction. People don't heard about Steem or blockchain at all. Today one of my ex colleague called me and steem come in our gossip randomly. I tried almost ten minutes to explain what it is and her reaction was so empty!
I wish the world would be like this one day. And I could use my account as a safe insurance. 😊😃

Hey, @rem-steem.
I've tried to explain it to a few people, and it's kind of the same thing. Not so much blank stares, but a lot of non-interest. My wife still doesn't understand it even after I've explained it to her a dozen or so times. I think my oldest son gets it, but as far as I know he hasn't done anything with it, and even so, he's not really into posting a whole lot.
He and his brother do spend quite a bit of time reading stuff on their phones, though. Mostly memes. :)
I appreciate you reading. Thank you for your kind words.
Steem can offer your sons some gaming with Steem Monsters.... or staying fit with Actifit :)
Hey, dalz.
Very true. I'm told the oldest about Actifit and he seemed mildly interested. I haven't said much about STEEM Monsters or Drugwars because I don't think either of their wives would be happy if I did. They're both trying to get them off of their phones and consoles so they help with their small children. :)
Okay, it's not quite that bad—they do help out. Just not quite as much as they could or should. I suppose, though, if they were actually earning something playing these games that would be better than just wasting their time otherwise.
Steem Monsters can take a lot of your time. That is true. Actifit may be the better choise for them :)
Don’t forget that the carbis tokenized on the blockchain just in case you want to sell it down the road! Great free write!

YES PLEASE! Hahaha. I hope so. Fingers crossed man. It's good to dream... <3
Hey, @soyrosa.
I kind of thought it was, too. :)
The numbers are based off STEEM being at $437.50 USD, so a decent stretch of reality there, but hey, we're talking 17 years into the future. I'm feeling like there's enough time to get to that. :)
In reading this I said, why not, maybe one day this will come to pass, but until then we all need to just continue to enjoy each other's company and share what we feel others may like. Dreams are ideas put into Motion.
Hey, @thebigsweed.
That's what I like to hear. Buy in or belief in the dream. :) Why not? Why can't it happen? Yes, there are probably a million reasons for it not to happen, but I don't know. Things are happening fast enough on other fronts that while I don't think we sneak this by, maybe it just gets to the point where people actually say enough is enough. And when that happens, the change occurs.
In the meantime, as we're moving this all forward, it would be good if we could all just get along, and find ways to hold onto our own principles while leaving others to hold onto or find theirs.
Let's hope the scene you envisioned becomes a reality soon. That would be nice. :-)
Hey, Vincent.
Yes, wouldn't it though? I thought it might be nice to run through some everyday, and not so everyday—but still fairly common—applications for STEEM use. I'm hoping if people can start visualizing the future a little bit more that they'll figure out how to get there. :)
Glen, you are a man of foresight and vision. The world needs men like you. :-)

Hey, @steemitboard.
Looks like the upvotes are going out at a good clip. Or it seems to me it is, since I manually curate everything. Thanks for the update. Greatly appreciated as always.
You're welcome @glenalbrethsen
Howdy sir Glen! hey I thought you weren't bullish on steemit and steem? I kinda like this vision though!
Hey, @janton.
I can see the potential future, but I don't know how we get there from here. It doesn't quite fit the narrative for the last days, either. I'm of the mind we're getting ever closer to that, so unless we manage to get a major reprieve for a while, things are more likely to get worse, and keep getting worse.
So, I don't know. As I said, I can see the potentiality, but not the how. :)
Howdy again sir Glen! I'm not sure I follow you, Steem doesn't fit the last days? As in Biblical last days?
Would you recommend Steemit to other people at this point?
Steemit with the ads? No. STEEM I might, but I'd have to explain the flagging first.
re: biblical last days
Right. It's not so much STEEM, or crypto, it's the whole idea of decentralization and freedom. Unless that's what prompts armageddon in some way—the forces of centralization and subjugation marching against the rest—I think we're set right now to keep getting worse and worse, before we start fighting over resources (literally, rather than figuratively).
So, I'm not sure how it all comes to be, obviously, I'm just thinking that people living out their days in peace while the whole world melts around them isn't exactly in the cards. :) Not everyone will perish, but that doesn't mean they will be safe and secure and free of pain or suffering for loved ones lost, or a shattered world.
That's where I want to live!
Hey, @melinda010100.
Does sound rather nice, doesn't it? :) Maybe I expand a little on that as the not-so-much a series continues. I feel like I need to come up with reasons for folks to look to the future, so maybe they'll focus a little more on what's going on right now, and maybe want to be a part of a solution, rather than just doing things for their own personal benefit. Need some of that, but it would be nice to have some community/platform/planetary benefit, too. :)
I certainly agree with that! Writing some future senerios of life with Steem may help get people looking ahead!
I absolutely can imagine this kind of life of Steem. We will get there. Awesome freewrite and really enjoyed reading it.
Hey, @imajadeline.
This was another case of knowing what I wanted to write about and then shoe horning the prompts. Maybe next week I'll let the prompts completely dictate where the story goes. In this case, the prompts didn't really take things down strange paths, which I think can be quite entertaining. :)
Thank you, again, for today's prompt. Always appreciated. :)
