RE: You Need 1 Million STEEM Power to Upvote $20

in #steem7 years ago

It depends on what you think the future of Steem will be, if you believe that the price will go up inevitably you are liable to make a lot of money, not from voting but from the gains you make because the price went up. If you are a HODLer and the price goes really up like $4.00 your vote will be $200.00 plus curation and you actually have a nice income, if this did happen I of course would at least sell enough to recuperate what I spent to make sure I will not lose in case of an apocalypse.

But that is best case scenario, in reality we are on a cliff edge right now and nobody trusts Steem that much so I doubt anyone would put in that kind of money.

Sort:

In order for STEEM's price to go up to $4, people need a reason to buy STEEM now. And if there are no reasons, it can't go up to $4. Of course "Maybe it'll go to $4" is kind of a reason. But something more substantial would help the process significantly, I'd think.

I tend to think this crypto world is more a thing of gut feeling than anything else, if all of a sudden Steem spiked to $0.80 because some person put in a few hundred k dollars on a whim, a lot of people would follow and send the price up. That is why I do not believe in TA, because I think most things in the crypto world are manipulated by big players.

Yeah, that is true. Most of this is just manipulation. But I think it's partially because crypto still offers zero to normal people, really. So there's not a very large market outside of the big whale manipulators nerd enough to be into crypto. Steemit's original idea did draw in some normies, but that's been effectively killed.
