I'm not a witness but have been following the issue closely,
0.8.3 - now 0.8.4 makes the most sense, from an ideological standpoint especially now that the numbers are out.... you can't argue with the data. 0.8.2 does not make much of a wide short term impact. The contentious changes (0.8.2) also really make no real long-term impact aside from dividing the community on ideology and alienating a couple of whales.
