@DTube and @DLive Are Rocking!

Hey, I'm not even saying this as a content creator on either of them, because I'm not a video kind of guy, not to mention live. But I am a consumer of videos and (mostly recorded) live streams.

And these platforms, which haven't even reached their major version 1 yet, are amazing!

In fact, I can only wonder what will happen after the Velocity hard fork will make it much easier for big #dapps like DTube and DLive to onboard people on the Steem blockchain. That's next month, you know! Not to mention after March, when the SMTs will be out.

Looking from the outside, there seems to be even a sort of healthy competition between the two, with DLive allowing to host recorded live streams and DTube recently launching their own live streaming option.

DTube recently introduced their own off-chain chat, which is encoded peer-to-peer based on the communicating Steem accounts. This way, the people talking are sure they talk with the person behind a certain Steem account, something not always easy to know on Discord or Steemit.chat.

DLive has an off-chain chat for some time, which is used between the participants to the live stream, without ending up with the conversations on the blockchain as comments.

DLive also has a very nice gifting option, on top of the upvotes.

I would say more about the broadcasting/video quality, lagging or whatever specialized terms are used, but I'm afraid they are way out of my area of interest and expertise.

I know both platforms were recently upgraded (details here and here) and their teams actively develop them. Their communities are awesome and both video and live stream are a thing of the present and future, so it's not a flame.

These platforms have the real potential to become the flagships of Steem in terms of onboarding new people to the Steem blockchain and building strong communities.
