Having a "Donation" button as an option allows an authors content to go beyond the 7 day payout window... no expiration on timeframe it can be monetized. I have discussed this with several of RocketEx clients and they love the idea!
Sure, because it's so much work to copy paste a name and hit send. What's your button gonna do? Cut out that dreadful copy pasting. So much monetization. Much monetization.

Why have an upvote button on the post, why not just have the upvote apply to their account with no visual feedback?
Because it's not a direct donation, far from it. It's a chance, as you might get this much reward, because it's a game, because it encourages content creation, because it doesn't discourage people to consume, because it doesn't cost anyone mental energy to consider costs / rewards, because it offers people a chance to consider how much each item is worth.

Lol who said it would be so bad. I said that paywals don't work, in regards to bad things, but I said that donation buttons are a gimmick, that no one will donate because of the buttons. That doesn't mean they're bad.

None of this really deserves a serious answer because you're not actually interested in facts. You obviously just like hearing yourself talk, but I'll give you one serious answer then flag the rest of this crap.
First off Patreon.
They didn't before, I imagine because users requested it. I remember there's a girlwho paints anime characters and she makes a ridiculous amount of money. I think that would ultimately work against the creator. If someone is making 23k every two weeks everyone who sees that will think "She's got enough money, I'm not going to pile on" At least that's what I'd think. So I imaging it's actually the opposite of what you're thinking.
Anyway, I seriously doubt you care that you're just spouting nonsense, but on the off chance you care to try reality for a change, check those links.
Lol what links. You just confirmed that no one makes money on Pateron, as I was say, and you literally used the logic that donations aren't difficult but people might not realize that they can donate. OK, you win, donation buttons are another option and they help people realize that they can donate, because they had no idea that they could send steem to the content creators that they like.
