Yeah: 2016 was a hard year after Steem's manic debut. I still remember someone keeping up the faith by posting that STEEM at a time was a great buy.

I don't know if the prices of Steem are going up due to speculation or because the demand of Steem has increased, but yeah it is a good sign after the price dropped so much during the week.
The new Steem-based platforms are a huge factor-in.
DLive, once 'discovered' is going to be ginormous for live chats people are currently doing for 'free' on FB.
I have taken notice at how many Steemians are uploading to DTube in comparison to a few weeks ago. The load is a little slow on my end; but, that could have a lot to do with the volume of uploads.
I can only say that the more apps created with a STEEM 'value', will increase the overall value of the currency.

Ah yes, I remember all my time waste in sites like those that did not paid out while looking a way to earn money online, i am luckily to have find Steemit by recommendation of a friend of mine.
Like you had said, as more and more apps are created and added, the "ecosystem" of Steemit gets bigger and expands, making a positive grow like you said which it is good.
But not everything is peachy, the flag wars are a thing over here, harmful bots and toxic users (but those can be found in any place anyway), all of those things can affect the future of Steemit and the price of Steem, shadows are hard to extinguish even if or when possible.
Yes, the STEEM apps, especially Steemit are a Godsend.
I think they will be like minnows in the ocean as the platform grows. I mean, in perspective, only a handful of people are (lol/smh) following this. It’s more of a side show. I’m sure eventually they will call a truce; or, as someone mentioned, cancel each other out.
Nah, I think the positivity will push the drama into a little pocket; and, eventually fizzle as people tire of the ‘silliness’ or gain steem and rise up to extinguish both sides with massive downvoting…now that’s a thought that might get some attention. Personally, I say, stay in your lane, and everything will be just fine.
It’s called good karma can never be trumped by bad karma.
