Very good information. I think the ideal would be to have a post with both a popular and a less popular tag. The popular tag will give it exposure to a lot of people, but probably not much lasting power as it will quickly get drowned in other posts. Less popular tags will give lasting power as the post will stay in the first 10 new entries much longer.
