I have made this suggestion numerous times and indeed I vote myself only after 4-5 days.
However, I do understand that not all voters want to do that. This is already an option which provides a pretty clear benefit to the community and Steem economy over self-voting or selling votes, which would have a higher return to the voter. Expecting people to give up even the modest curation rewards one may earn here on top of that may be a stretch.
