sometimes less is more

Welcome to the 66th weekly installment of my series on Steem income and growth!

Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). All my crypto holdings are in the Steem currency. Now I'm working to earn more, by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain.

Calculating weekly income

Considering income from accounts that I own, that my wife owns, and group projects using our funds (currently @drutter, @medikatie, @greatesteem, @hempy, @girlsofgreen, @sativazeee, & @vantocan), here's the running tally:

Average weekly growth (last 10 weeks): +16.4 Steem (+1.03%)

At under 0.5%, it was one of our worst weeks for growth. That was expected, since we're currently devoting most of our time to a personal project, and can't be creating content for Steem as much as we'd like. Also, we've donated funds to Mission: Agua-Possible regularly over the past couple weeks.

Our 10 week moving average has fallen to just above 1% growth. Still pretty good, considering how busy we've been:

Side story:

I've always been "d.rutter", since the first Computer Science course I took in high school, about 1990. When the internet came along, I used drutter for certain things (like my 20-year-old hotmail account). But when it came to discussing my then-favourite topic, Magic, I became "rancored_elf".

As rancored_elf, I became administrator of the largest Magic website, MTGNews (and later MTGSalvation). We had hundreds of thousands of daily logins. I became very well known for my ability to spot bullshit, and rose to the top of a million nerds because of that skill. 15+ years ago, we pioneered online forums, the concept of clans (online teams/clubs), changed the way people used the internet, spawned groups and companies that continue today. Hasbro sued me for discussing upcoming Magic set releases, we settled out of court, and my involvement in the community waned. Meanwhile, I had started an eBay and website (rancoredelf.com) business, selling and shipping cards internationally, and paid my bills for many years that way.

When I got into activism, I went back to being DRutter (on YouTube, FaceBook, and here on Steem). The system ended up taking my passport and bank accounts away, and I've been forced more and more into the world of cryptos, to survive. But doing business in the default financial world without bank accounts, credit cards, or PayPal is no longer possible. I don't have any friends who play the game, and I haven't discussed it on forums for years. Rancored_elf has faded away, and the remnants of my collectible card business are being sold off cheap. It's just fiat cardboard, anyway.

Have a great week!

DRutter
