Steem.Supply Update: Calculating Posts With 100% Power Up, Comments Rewards Calculation Bugs Fixed

in #steem6 years ago

Although not much may be seen on the surface, this is a major update for steem.supply.

Here's the short change log:

  • taking into account 100% power up posts
  • solved a bug in calculating liquid rewards total per day, which resulted in higher numbers displayed
  • solved a voting power bug, which resulted in slower regeneration time
  • solved a bug which lead to incorrect display of SP for comments rewards calculation (thanks to @shivohum2015 for the bug report)
  • replacing the link to the explanation to the local version of the page
  • replacing the link in the header with a button

And now the detailed stuff.

If you looked at some of the most prominent users on steemit.com, you may have noticed some abnormal values, like, for instance, in this screenshot for @haejin:

As you can see, the values for the Steem Power rewards are really off, and that happened because the algorithm didn't take into account 100% Power Up posts. Here's how it looks now:

You may also notice that some posts have "0.00" rewards when the currency is set to USD (as opposed to STU). This is because when you see rewards in USD, steem.supply only shows the liquid rewards, the ones that you can exchange immediately into USD. If you want to see the SP rewards, just use the "Toggle USD / STU display button".

The second biggest bug was related to how comments rewards were calculated. As you can see for this comment, the SP value was really high again:

This was due to how the SP comments rewards were initially calculated, without taking into account the updated algorithm, and it was fixed. This is how it looks now:

The above bug affected mainly people who are getting a lot of rewards from commenting.

Apart from that, I did a general cleanup and updated a few links.

As usual, looking forward to your feedback, criticism and suggestions.

Wanna know when you're getting paid?

I know the feeling. That's why I created steem.supply, an easy to use and accurate tool for calculating your Steemit rewards

It's free to use, but if you think this is a useful addition, I'd appreciate your witness vote.

Thank you!

I think USD calculation might have a bug too. If I toggle to STU and watch for the amount of SBD, then multiply by the worth of SBD shown on your page and add the value of the STEEM to that number, than your USD calculation is off a little.
Maybe this is a fallacy, but can you check it?

thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it.

later edit:

then multiply by the worth of SBD shown on your page and add the value of the STEEM to that number

the USD calculation doesn't take into account Steem Power value in USD, is this what you're pointing at?

Yes, exactly. I guess it makes sense to leave it out because is not liquid, but on the other hand the total amount gained is higher...
So it's a personal preference what should be shown.

I understand and I agree that this is personal.

However, the total amount is shown prominently in the user header, adding up liquid and SP, for a quick overview of user's "worth". If I propagate too much data down to the other numbers it feels quite loaded, at least that's my personal preference :)

Thanks for clearing up.

You're very right.

Steem Supply is the best: Keep up the good work:)!

Thank you :)

Really appreciate having this tool available. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it.

very hard working day for you lots of update you did today the site is working great again too :D

@dragosroua: Is it possible to display a 7 days Graph of the Ratio SDB/Steem below the Line
For 1 SBD you get 1.013 STEEM
If you could that, I will help make decisions. The Graph obviously has to be for past 7 days

If you like this proposal, UPVOTE this Comment, so @dragosroua can take the challenge.

After clarifying the point of view of @ew-and-patterns I think I understood better how it works. Thank you growing while I read your publications.

I am glad you put so much effort into Steem Supply again. :)

onwards and upwards, love this tool mate, thank you for taking time on it! :)

Even Working on a Sunday @dragosroua. I admire your Work Ethic my friend and Thank You for making STEEMIT better and better Everyday !

You keep making this great tool even better. No better way to see when/how you're getting paid. I recommend this to all new Steem users.
