Why Does Some People Have Negatives on Their SP?

The Gift of Steem Power called Delegating
There are different reasons why some people's wallets have those negative numbers on their Steem Power. That means they have delegated Steem Power to others. And there are different reasons for that:
- They gave it as contest rewards.
Some whales and dolphins (or communal accounts too) with big SP make contests that has delegation as rewards, the biggest I've seen were 10,000 SP delegation and 5,000s.
- They support the person.
If someone has enough SP, there are times they decide to help another Steemian out by sharing what they have.
- They have loaned it to a bot service.
Like with @minnowbooster, so they can get daily dividends.
- They have donated it to a community bot.
Like how it's donw with @minnowsupport.
- They are building a community account with their SP.
Some members would like to have support and there are times they don't get it, so some decide to pool their own SP and make an account where they can combine it till it gets big enough to support their community.
- They created an account for delegation.
With the use of Steeminvite.com, a person can create a Steemit account as long as they have enough to pay the fees (0.1 Steem) and provide the delegation (somewhere around 14 Steem Power).
If you look at my Wallet page, you will see that I have about 260 Steem that's delegated elsewhere, it's the negative value next to my Steem Power.
The reason behind that is because I have used my Steem Power to create accounts for my invites: usually family and colleagues I've invited into Steemit.com.
The same thing goes for our communal account @steemph. We have onboarded people right away by using our Steem Power with the help of steeminvite.com.
This is another way that I and we (as a group) show our support to Steemit, Steemians, and people that we know personally. By bringing them into the platform, we help them grow, we help the community grow, and we help Steemit grow.

Hi. I only have about 15 SP being new to the platform. Can this help already? Don't I have to save a little bit more to have a significant impact? Anyway thanks for posting this. I will most definitely refer to this in the future once I get to know more.
It does, every SP counts. I suggest use it to upvote those who need it the most as well, and those who comment on your posts.
Point well taken. I normally upvote all those who comment on my posts, regardless whether they upvoted mine or not. But the maximum amount that my upvote gives them is only $0.01 and I just wish it can be more. Same with posts which I think have very good content but do not earn much.
Power delegation is the helping way, i appreciate this
Thanks!
nice post
Thanks!
Is this dejavu or you have already posted this hours ago? :)
I kinda clicked randomly on a browser that's not responding. :D And it still had the draft in it, so it seems, and it posted the same article. Lol.
I've improved this article though. I just edited it now.
Cool :)
that is nice to know that we can use our SP to help others and the commuity grow.
It's one of the primary 'magics' here in Steemit.
I didn't know that! Now I do. Thanks!
You're welcome.
Best explanation I read so far.. Thank you! 😘
