[Steem talk] Buying ESTM with Steem/SBD?

Previously, we have covered #estm bringing value to #steem, by allowing user to purchase #estm via Google Play Store payment. I have made a post about it few weeks ago here. Feel free to check it out. And now came the ability to puchase with Steem/SBD via eSteem Surfer desktop app, on my first glance I felt a little bit skeptical about it, but I guess we will just have to dig it down and see what is selling in the hive.

In order to view your current #estm wallet status, please proceed to the upper right corner. Note that this only applicable for desktop app right now, android mobile app will still bring us to Google Pay.

First you should notice, this is some unusual setup for most if not all #steem platform, by going to the Points column, you will be able to check your #estm points balance. It is not tokenize yet because our boss know when is the best time to SMT it. Let's get down to business, click on the GET ESTM button and we will be redirect to the purchase screen.

From here, we will be able to see how much it worth to get #estm via #steem. Frankly, I don't see the "BURN" here, other than using my existing #steem or #sbd to buy #estm and exchange them with votes. In a way, is a big round of vote buying process that seemingly renamed as "burn" but in actual fact it doesn't burn anything other than RC? Anyway, that's not today's topic, let's focus on whether this is beneficial to vote buying operations. 250steems to get 17568.639estm points.

Now what we all concern is, the 250 steem we spent, whether can we get them back? Here's the redeem screen. For each 2500estm points we will be able to exchange with $5.071 worth of upvote. Our 17.5k estm point could probably get us a little bit more than 7 times of upvotes. Which gives us back $35.697. Is it profitable? Slightly more than what we have invested in terms of #steem purchase. Don't forget, now it is buying vote. And #newsteem does not like vote buying you know that. Flooding your #steem back to the market just isn't right thing to do and who knows the boosted upvote may come together with flags due to over exposure? That however, I think if you have #SBD lying around do nothing, this is actually a good way to liquidate your SBD for #estm, and you may use your #estm to exchange for upvote on your posts. This way, it eliminate the need to wait of burning process via CONVERT function which I have spoken few days ago. Like it or not, its all about risk management. I don't think I will ever want to use #steem to exchange for #estm, but I am considering to burn my #sbd via this process. Also considering buying in via credit card.
