I think they are printing less SBD because Steem is not being generated that easily now. So less Steem left to back the dollars. This will rollback when Steem values rises again.

They are trying to balance steem as well as sbd.....i guess @dan has made all this more complicated now...

I recently heard that dan is transferring his money to EOS ...... It is very huge money ...it is effecting whole steemit right now.....
Dan might be one but market situation is a big contributor currently I think. Wouldn't be surprised if we see a EOS based social media though.

It all depends on how does it scale. As long as monetary rewards are involved, everyone tends to adjust. It will definitely be equally popular.
