RE: Positives and Negatives of Steem Delegations

in #steem6 years ago

I hear and understand most of your post. I hate bots, but even myself have used them many times, I have "sponsored" other users using @steembasicincome

You hear about sports situations sometimes where someone does steroids and then everyone else in the sport feels just to be on an even starting level you also have to take the steroids.

That is bots and Steemit currently, which it is what it is. And I would never simplify the site into saying it is overrun by bots and their usage that it is taking away from the human voting element of the site, but I definitely think it is impossible to say they don't effect things.

After years I still am not 100% fully understanding delegation. With the tech understanding of it, it is that you are earning a cut of someone or some bots voting habits basically?

Sort:

When you delegate to bidding bots you get the cut of daily revenue they generate based on how much you delegate to them. They take the small cut of that percentage, most goes to you. In that scenario there are three happy entities, bid bot owners, delegators, people buying votes, but people who buy those votes normally are not that great at writing which creates this crazy garbage filled trending page, and normally there is less organic curation circling around the platform.

Steemit was always a bot playing field that is now plagued with bid bots, bit bots wouldn't exist if they are not lucrative, for everyone delegating to them life became very easy. Well, including mine. So, I definitely have mixed feelings about everything.
