How does Steemit.com actually earns money?

I still don't know the answer to this question.

We all get our payouts for posting, commenting, sharing, etc. but how does Steemit.com makes money from all of us?

I would like to get that answer from someone who's been here for a while.

I invite everyone to comment and say what is your opinion on this matter.

Steemit.com is owned by the same founders of the Steem blockchain. Who hold the majority of Steem. Hence, since they own most of the Steem in circulation, they can just sell of Steem if they need more cash.
