A Review of the Best Minnow Support Groups and Bots

Greetings Steemit Friends:

As a small time minnow on Steemit, it's a given that we all need as much help as we can get to become an established and successful content contributor. There are many resources available to help us progressively improve our position on this growing platform - sometimes so many that we don't know where to turn.

I'm sure there are many more resources that I'm not familiar with in the Steemit-verse, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share with the community a consolidated list of 5 of the services I have used and am quite happy with. At the same time I'm hoping that you will share with me other resources that you have been using which have been helpful in your Steemit journey.

@minnowsupport created by @aggroed and supported by several whales and influential members of Steemit, is geared toward helping community members (especially minnows) succeed on the platform through education, personal connection, and community curation. Using the influence of bots, which are available for every registered members use, content creators can use the power of the community to increase their posts visibility and value. As you become more tenured and as your contribution to the project grows, you gain access to more specialized tiered bots which help you grow even further.

There are channels dedicated to educational seminars, content review, training, and individual consultation for all user to join. There is a wealth of knowledge and a willingness to share all throughout the community and the channels are constantly a buzz with activity 24/7. There is always someone available to help and talk to.

@randowhale is one of the more tenured services out there which is a lot like playing the lottery. You pay 2 SBD or Steem for a random upvote with voting power between 1% - 5%. As of today I have not made less then what I have paid, although there is a chance. This is more for Minnows who already have a few SBD and are willing to take a calculated risk at boosting their rewards and getting noticed. Typically it will boost your post from around $4 - $9. The service is very reliable and takes no time at all. It is not anonymous though and creates a comment letting people know you used it. You can read more about the updates on @randowhale Here

@booster is another new service in which you pay for upvotes to help increase the visibility of your posts. This bot allows any and all users of Steemit a 2.4 hour window to pay any amount they wish. When the time runs out, it upvotes at 100% and divides the voting power based on the % of SBD that was sent per individual. Basically the more you spend the larger chunk of the upvote power you get. Unlike @randowhale, you always make money, however the amount is based on how much you spend. You can read more about @booster Here.

I enjoy this bot, however I tend not to use it when someone spends more then I am willing to spend. It does help however to boost your visibility and requires patience given that it only votes every 2+ hours.

@whaleshares by @officialfuzzy is one of the oldest and more well know services that works through the Bitshares Dex. There is a lot of potential for this and I expect that more and more Whales will sign up to offer their voting power through this initiative. @officialfuzzy makes it a point to regularly engage with the users in the official @whaleshare Discord channel and often time gives away Whaleshares and now Beyonbits regularly just for hanging out - You can hold them just like any other currency or spend them for upvotes on your post. Each Whaleshare or Beyondbit is worth a 1% upvote.

Although it is a bit more pricey and complicated to get the upvote and support from this service, the rewards are well worth it and can not only boost your earnings, but the visibility of the post you worked so hard and long on as well.

@minnowbooster by @reggaemuffin is probably the newest bot service that has launched. Although it is still in Beta, it seems to work pretty well. Because it is new, the amount you earn and the influence it has is less then the other bots, however you can expect roughly 5 times what you paid if the bot is at 100% voting power. The multiplier reduces as the overall Voting Power of the bot reduces so I would recommend you check before you pay in order to avoid losing money.

The only challenge I have found with this bot is that it is difficult to find a time when the bot is at 100% so the frequency of usage may be less. It however is a good service with a lot of potential. You can join the discord channel for this bot Here

I'm sure there are more bots and services available that I haven't covered and I'm sure more will be developed. Needless to say all of these were created to help new content creators get noticed. There is some controversy around using some of these, however I think any help that someone can provide to grow this community and keep people from leaving is welcomed. Some say it's a quick way for someone else to get rich, but then again as long as people are helping gone another - isn't that the point?

I figure as minnows grow up and become Whales themselves - when they no longer need the services of these bots, they can leave the pond and allow others to benefit from the services that they themselves used to grow their accounts. These are just training wheels for newbies and eventually they have to come off.
