Yes, account value should not be our focus because we have to understand one thing that, account value will change accordingly with prices so you don't have any control so focus on more controllable factors.
Yes, for posting we need motivation and in my opinion the numbers of account value is not part of the motivation because it's associated with dynamic nature.
But yet it's human tendency to look towards the holdings and in that way many people face the demotivation and people think that we are getting nothing so they discontinue.
So, in my opinion in tough times we have to do those work which gives us happiness and good mood so that you can continue on the tough path for sure. 🙂

It is a nice milestone and is better to take baby steps towards any goal!
