One steemian told me about it right before they left and said it was better than steem, I can't see how they monetised things though, I guess if you can't pay your hosting you have to eventually sunset. I really hope steem doesn't end up the same way, we've all put so much effort into building this site over the last few years
I couldn't agree more.
Steem is decentralized, even if Steemit inc shut its doors the blockchain will still run and devs will still build. I think we are in the clear, the blockchain itself has value albeit from the community. While the data is on chain, most Steem DApps render from GitHub— so we avoid hosting costs as much as possible.
