How can we fix the greedy self upvoting buggers - drain their power
We all should be rewarded according to the value we add to the Steemit community, as judged by our peers, not by how much SP we have to give ourselves a huge upvote. This is the way Steemit was meant to be.
HF19 has seen a lot of Steemians voting up their own content ahead of other's, and have been enjoying massive payouts which they (probably) don't deserve.
So how can we solve the self upvote problem. I have an Idea:
By all means, if you think you have added a good quality post or comment, feel free to give yourself and upvote. BUT, you self upvote should be set to a maximum weight, and decrease your voting power by an elevated amount.
For example:
- Your first upvote is a maximum of 5% of your voting wight, and uses up 10% of your votin power.
- Your second vote within 25 hours is a maximum of 4%, but uses 15% of your voting power.
This goes on until you have used up all your voting power and you have to wait days to get your power back up.
Problem solved!! No frills, no fancy charts...
Here, have some nuts!!!
I wonder how long it would take for someone dedicated/greedy enough to create bots that circumvented this by delegating SP?
There are bots out there which vote-follow already, but I don't think they're that many. Unless there is a way to distinguish between bot accounts and normal user accounts, it would be difficult to apply the same sort of weighting rules to their votes. Most bots only vote with a smaller percentage weight. This design would stop the greedy users giving themsleves 100% upvotes on every comment they make.
I immediatley have a bias against someone if I see theyre upvoting their own comments on my posts
