RE: Blackmarket SP sales. How much would you sell your SteemPower for if you could?

in #steem8 years ago

A few things you failed to factor in...

  • SP earns interest (and it's currently a REALLY high interest rate). @lukestokes wrote a great article on how to calculate it and it's about 25% per month right now but has a scheduled taper to around 10% annually if I remember correctly.
  • Expecting STEEM to increase in value by 500% to offset inflation seems pretty reasonable for a new, high profile currency. That would mean STEEM would only need to be at $7.50 two years from now, a safe bet even if STEEM has moderate success.

Thanks for the shout out, @billbutler. One thing I learned over time (and posted about in other posts in the comments) is the Steem Power increase we see in our wallets probably shouldn't be thought about as "interest" but instead as protection against share dilution. It's like a stock split in that you get new Steem Power based on your VEST holdings. https://steemstats.com/ tracks that as well, which is helpful. And yes, I think it's supposed to settle around 12% annually in about 8-9 months (though right now its really high).

  • your first point is the point I made in my post.
SBD earn 10% per year not SP
  • your second point purely speculative.
