It looks like you are going with the side-by-side approach to Markdown. I'm interested in developing an app unrelated to Steemit with an intuitive Markdown Editor, much like how Slack "Create a Post" works or how Dropbox Paper works. If you end up feeling like you need to go that route instead, I think it would make sense to collaborate on a universal editor that has these types of features. The editor I'm envisioning hides the markdown for the most part so non-technical users can hop aboard more quickly.
