Maybe it will, but we can try not to be too obsessed with the price.

We have to keep in mind that it's not about the price, it's about the community. "If you build it, they will come." If we can build a solid userbase/community on the Steem blockchain, the price will naturally increase. So our focus should be on bringing new users to the platform and engaging with them to keep them active and help them gain belief in this amazing place.

It's also about censorship resistance. While front end and even financial censorship is possible on Steemit, we have the tools to counter and resist censorship unlike elsewhere. We just have to remember to use them.

As demotruk says, it's about censorship resistance as well. Albeit there are more levels to consider in Steem than in other social media networks.

It's also about user retention not only due thanks to keeping users active by engaging them, but by building a better and more engaging platform and front end such. One that's actually a lot of fun to use, no matter if it was blockchain based or had money. That's not to suggest you don't already see this, but the focus tends to be too much on the money side and on the cult / pyramid scheme-like "keep people occupied".
