Tutorial - STEEM For Developers # 1 Part - 1 : What is Steem.
Okay ! Hello Steemians, I am starting a #tutorial #blog here on STEEM blockchain fundamental and developing applications on top of STEEM blockchain with a goal to create a simple web application based on . Here Is the RoadMap of the current series.
#1 - Part 1 Introduction to Steem.
#1 - Part 2 Introduction to Steem Blockchain and developer api.
#1 - Part 3 Creating your first Javascript web
#1 - Part 4 Wiring up Everything
Target Audience : this tutorial is to anyone who is interested in learning to build their own platform for Steem.
I am writing this more like a conversation on Steem between me and my friend who is Yet another pathetic engineer from India, now wanting to learn about Steemit blockchain, Just because someone told them to do so. ( We Indians rarely think out of the box without being pushed! Lol)
Hey Bro, I heard that you are training people on Blockchain. I heard about Steemit and want to build application on top of it. Can you please teach me? I would have said but you will have to do it because I am only friend you have got lol! 😂
Haha! Sure !
See, First of all Steem is nothing but the underlying Blockchain that is empowering people to build platforms for people to connect to network and share content in form of either text, media or a combination of them.
web applications like steemit.com, https://steem.photos , https://dtube.com are some applications that are using Steem for blog and picture and videos sharing respectively.
steemit is a very unique blogging platform that aims at fairly rewarding users who write Good blog posts Investing time and money in researching about the content. It also pays it's user for curating other users posts.
Steem.Photos is yet another photo sharing app like instagram but here users get paid for sharing their photos and curating others content.
Dtube is a YouTube like decentralised application that enables users to share videos and get paid per View, comment and share.
All payments are done with three different cryptocurrencies essentially STEEM, STEEM Power and STEEM dollars that can eventually be traded and used to buy things and pay bills!
Wait, is that real?? I didn't get the idea of getting paid for writing posts and comments. I mean Facebook, Quara, Reddit don't pay anything for doing such things. Often people think of us as loosers wasting our time looking at our phones all the time while Zuks is smoking joints at a home at some seashore after selling all my info to businesses! Very unfair, should at least share the joint 😂!
Hahahaha! Yes! You heard it. Zuks has a very brilliant mind, I respect him for that, but I too don't like the way they are selling our information to businesses and earning money via customised ads and promotions. It has become too much frustrating to use such platforms because all of them are serving more and more ads and paying nothing to the users. Cryptocurrencies work on a particular proof of work algorithm where they reward it's participants for doing work. Bitcoin pays miners for solving blocks, so the money is distributed to only a few Nodes who are participating in mining. On the other Hand Steem distributes the reward to Authors, Curators etc. Amazing right?
You have all my attention now! By the way how much they pay for each post? Will I get dollars, I don't believe in cryptocurrencies, I like looking and grinning on the money I got In my bank wallet.
Yes absolutely, you can trade funds earned in Steem with USD easily, soon in near future it will be possible to get a one click payout to your bank account.
But for now we need to learn about STEEM and its types since the payments are made in these currencies only.
My Next tutorial in this series will be an Introduction to STEEM blochain architecture, types of Steem tokens and developer api.
