Thanks for the post. You're right that using shortlinks shows you a lot of insights on your post's impact.
We have a few services similar to bit.ly that were created especially for Steemit. One of them is the one I released last week, https://steem.ly, which also has tracking and activity stats. If you've just that link, just add a + to it in the address bar and you'll see the stats.

    Thanks for your support. I'm working on some great stuff for steem.ly that won't need you to go to the actual website anymore to short the links. Hoping to put them very soon.
